Integrated Approach

SKM has established a healthy and truthful relationship with its suppliers and makes no compromise on quality. The prime concern is to ensure traceability and to be assured that the farm operates under veterinary control. Farms are supervised carefully and frequent audits are conducted by the company veterinarian.

Raw Material :

A monitoring system is strictly followed to ensure that feed is free of any undesirable residues of antibiotic, pesticide, organic acids and veterinary drugs to ensure residue free eggs..

Our laboratory attached to the farm monitors the health of the birds and the residue laboratory in the feed mill ensure that the samples of feed ingredients, compound feed, water, body tissues, excreta are analyzed rigorously to produce safe and good quality eggs.

Residue Monitoring :

State of the art laboratory setup at a cost of USD 500,000 with analytical instruments like GC-MS, GC-ECD, HPLC, AAS, etc to ensure that egg and egg powder is free of any pesticide, antibiotic and other contaminants. The laboratory is accredited for ISO 17025.

Sampling and testing are in accordance with EU/96/23 and all relevant European Union and Japan regulations.

Samples from feed ingredients, feed additives, feed, water, tissues, shell egg and egg powder are analyzed for pesticide and antibiotic residues. In addition to the in house analyzes SKM sends samples to EU labs to ensure the quality and safety of the product.

Disease prevention :

Salmonella Control Programme :

  • Obtain chicks from hatchery/ breeding unit where an acceptable salmonella prevention and control programme exist.
  • Clean, wash and disinfect brooding house before brooding
  • Adhere to strict vector and biosecurity standards throughout the life of birds.
  • Monitoring chicks, pullets and layers for salmonella infection.

Newcastle Disease: The titre level for Newcastle Disease is checked periodically once in 2 months by routine serological testings.

Avian Influenza : Strict biosecurity measures are deployed to avoid the Avian Influenza outbreak. Fencing, No vegetation in the farm, sanitation of vehicles are part of biosecurity measures.

Compartmentalization :

The poultry farms which supply eggs for processing are registered as an establishment which is the requirement as per the EU Directive 798/2008

Process :

Farm fresh eggs are received daily in clean trucks. 1.8 million eggs are processed every day in the modern plant. Equipments and methods used are the best available in the world. In addition to the eggs, all other processing aids like air, water, additives used for blends, packing materials are thoroughly analyzed before put into process.

Filtered air used in the process is monitored daily for microbiological air quality. Sanitized Process water is regularly analyzed for physiochemical and microbiological purity. Processing aids used in the blends are routinely checked for purity. Packing materials are checked for sterility and strength.

Positive pressure maintenance in packing rooms, stringent sanitation measures, adherence to HACCP protocols, monitoring of critical control points to avoid the process deviations and effective pest control makes it possible to produce egg products of superior quality.

Functionality :

SKM functional testing laboratory is equipped with all modern equipments to test the functional behavior of egg powder and blends. Emulsion capacity, emulsion stability, mayonnaise viscosity, cake height, foam density, whipability, gel strength, flowability are some of the routine parameters analyzed to evaluate the performance of the final products. Knowledge in the functional behavior of ingredients helps us to formulate various blends for different applications.
