SKM HEALTH AND MIND WELFARE CHARITY TRUST - SEVAI MAIYAM
SKM.Maeilanandhan, A Social Activist, ventured to practice his mentors preaching at swaminathapuram village where he was born and brought up and this led to the formation of a Trust name SKM Health and Mind Welfare Charity Trust in the year 1988 and later through this trust he started a Service Centre named SevaiMaiyam in the year 1999.
People who wish to serve must volunteer and go to villages and other food, clothes, education and medication to the ignorant,poverty stricken and unprivileged people Swami Vivekanandha had emphasized that they are not backward but unprivileged people. As an ardent devotee of Swami Vivekanandha, Thiru SKM.Maeilanandhan wanted to execute his values at his birth place Saminathapuram village and formed a trust SKM Health and Mind Welfare Charity Trust in the year 1988 and later through this trust on September 15th 1999 the Service centre in the name of Sevai Maiyam was formed.

- The Sevai Maiyam functions under the SKM Health and Mind Welfare Charity Trust at Saminathapuram in Modakkurichi Village,Erode District.
- Unprivileged and backward class children living in Two Dalit colonies named Gandhi Nagar and Rajiv Nagar are adopted and all the basic necessities necessary for 228 families (Gandhi Nagar-174 and Rajiv Nagar-54 )were made , for the up-lift of their lives.
- Among the 228 families the total number of people residing are 786.Out of them the males account for 254,females231,children 239, and old people 62.
- Adopting children will become perfection only if the whole family is benefied.Hence,not only the children but also the elders in the household are taken care.
- Clean,green and healthy environment :
In Sevai Maiyam, adopted villages every house has an individual toilet with proper drainage facilities.Further, all the streets are kept clean and on both sides of the streets,trees have planted and taken care.
Dustbins are kept in each street, the garbage is removed every week through the tractor and cleanliness is maintained.
Electrical lights are fixed and maintained in all streets.
- Healthy child-nation's pride : For the birth of healthy children, the dalit women residing in Gandhi nagar and rajiv nagar colonies are given good medical care right from the beginning of their pregnancy period up to their delivery. if necessary, they are taken to erode general hospital for further treatment during maternity period.
- Further,during pregnancy upto the birth of the baby and after deliver also consultation are done by these doctors for child rearing and disease prevention. Women who bear 2 or 3 children are advised on the importance of family planning and after their 2nd or 3rd deliveries,arrangements are done for them to undergo family planning.
